Iron Man The Review
Lets start where it all began!
Billionaire / genius inventor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), is conducting weapons tests overseas, terrorists kidnap him to force him to build a devastating weapon. Instead, he builds an armored suit and upends his captors. Returning to America, Stark refines the suit and uses it to combat crime and terrorism.
Pd's Review; Lets get one thing straight. This is not a Marvel film or a superhero film. This is Robert Downy Jnr's film, it pretty much saved his career. A History or Drug abuse and unreliability wasn't exactly the leading man Marvel were looking to build a $150 mill film around, however it turns out Marvel was OK taking risks on this film. A leading man and support cast that didn't have any real blockbuster hitters in it. A director in Jon Favreau who hadn't had a money making film since Elf 5 years earlier. Iron Man wasn't even the Superhero people were crying out for!
Lets get to the actual film! This is a joy to watch. RDJ's performance as Tony Stark is both cocky and arrogant enough to make him slightly annoying but its such a fun ride to see him become the Iron Man we get at the end of the film. The CGI is very well done (for the time) and doesn't become a distraction like some actions have become known for! Iron Man also has a soundtrack that is very strong and stays with you long after the film has finished.
Its not all smooth sailing though, Obadiah Stane feels like he should be part of a multi villain film. Also the scenes with Tony Stark held captive also have some of the worst terrorists recorded to film! However the films pacing is so well done that the faults always become a distant memory.
I could honestly watch this film over and over again and never not love it!

GR;s Review The year was 2008 my first year at college and the year a movie would come about that would kick start one of the largest and most successful movie franchises in history! Enter Iron man! I was never really bothered about seeing this film back in 2008 but a load of my friends convinced me to go watch it and I was not disappointed!
Robert Downey JR who I had only really known from the movie Zodiac played and made a perfect Tony Stark! The film directed by Jon Favreau had all the ingredients of a great superhero movie, a great back story and a pretty decent villain which wasn’t too over the top for a first outing, we’ve seen it before, evil corporate character wants all the power but it was a nice easy way to get people hooked.
I will admit that the film does have its faults but there are more positives that outweigh the negatives with this one and it’s easy to see why back then marvel and paramount pictures could sense they were on to a winner. If anyone hasn’t seen a MCU movie or wants to just watch a good action movie then I highly recommend this movie!
